As of 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, Fraser Valley Metropolitan Recreation judges were still counting votes.
The board had two seats open with eight candidates seeking to fill them.
Contenders are Traci Brammer, Jill Carey, Kevin J. Davlin, Greg Gallavan, John Kacik and Terry Stanford, along with incumbent Board President Jim Fox and Vice President Howard Venezia.
Election results were not available by Tuesday night, but they can be viewed today at the East Grand Fire Protection District No. 4, 77601 Highway 40; Fraser Valley Recreation Administration Office, 216 Eisenhower; or at the district’s Web site: www.fraservalleyrec.org.
Recreation Supervisor Michelle Lawrence estimates that 611 residents voted. She sent out 309 absentee ballots, but wasn’t sure how many were returned.
Election judges counted the votes by hand.
“Manual counting elections tend to take more time to process,” she added, noting that it takes time to follow all the election procedures.
The board is responsible for $21.15 million worth of projects and improvements in the area. This includes: a $14.88 million recreation center, $3.07 million clubhouse at Pole Creek, 1.64 million irrigation project at Pole Creek, the $432,674 sports complex and the $1.12 million water and sanitation project at the sports complex, documents show.
