Fraser's High Country Stampede Rodeo Series kicks off 25th season

Print Comment
With plenty of bucking broncos, raging bulls and flying lassos, the 2008 High Country Stampede Rodeo Series in Fraser got off to an exciting start during the Fourth of July weekend and plans another rodeo on Saturday.

Known as the “Best Little Rodeo in Colorado,” the Stampede series will hold its second rodeo Saturday at the John Work Arena, one mile west of Fraser on County Road 73. It will begin with the junior rodeo events at 4 p.m., followed by the open rodeo at 7 p.m.

In addition to the exciting rodeo action, the Stampede also offers its famous barbecue dinners that start every Saturday at 4 p.m. and continue until 9 p.m.

In its 25th consecutive season, the High Country Stampede holds a rodeo every Saturday in July and August at the Fraser arena, which features a permanent cover with seating for more than 1,000 spectators.

For more information about the Stampede rodeos, call the Winter Park-Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce at 726-4118.

During the Stampede’s first rodeo on Saturday, July 5, the cowboys and cowgirls competed for a portion of the cash purse as well as to earn their first series points. Their first results are:
