The 20,000-square-foot Allington Inn in Kremmling is nearing completion.

“We’re hoping that by the end of October we’ll have this open,” said John Van Gieson, project superintendent for Van Gieson & Co. Inc. of Alamosa.

The foundation of the two-story building was done last year.

“This year we started out putting the floor in and then doing all the frame work,” he said.

Workers also had to place about 20,000 cubic-yards of fill to get the building level, he noted.

Next week he hopes the company will have the exterior walls completed.

The numbers of workers at the site “vary a lot,” Van Gieson said.

“We have anywhere from three to 20, depending on where we’re at and what we’re doing,” he said.

Workers still have to paint and furnish the building and pave the streets.

“We’re quite a ways out yet,” Van Gieson said, “but with any luck it will go fairly quick.”
The Inn has 46 rooms, including two Jacuzzi suites, two family rooms, two handicapped rooms, a pool, hot tub and weight room.

A double-sided fireplace is stationed at the building entrance. The community also will be able to use its conference room.

A retail area is also located on the main floor for any business that wants to rent the space. The room’s dimensions are 13 by 17 feet. The main floor also has a guest bathroom and laundry room.

Inn guests will be offered a continental breakfast as well.

Kacey Beres, Kremmling Chamber of Commerce events director, said the new inn will be beneficial to the town and its visitors.

“There is a huge need for more lodging,” she said. “We’re very excited about having another hotel in Kremmling.”

The building is located at 215 West Central Ave., across from Kremmling Mercantile.
Kremmling Mayor Thomas Clark said this location is “perfect.”

“I think the guests are really going to love it because they have a wonderful view,” he said. “A modern facility like that in Kremmling is really going to help us out.”

Van Gieson said he’s noticed more traffic along the street since they started construction.

“We’ve got to meet a lot of people up here again for the second time,” he said, adding that they also built the town’s Cliffside Inn. “We’re real pleased with the way it’s going. For the size of the building and the weather that we’ve had to deal with — it’s actually come along pretty good.”
