Colorado State University Indian promotion divides students

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — A controversy over wearing Indian garb to a Colorado State University basketball game has top administrators meeting with students.

Friday's meeting was called to talk about a Facebook page set up by a student. A sophomore basketball fan asked Colorado State fans to wear American Indian clothes for an upcoming game against the Wyoming Cowboys.

The Facebook page sparked a fiery online campus debate. The student, Ben Margolit, later apologized for suggesting a “Cowboys vs. Indians” theme at the game.

Margolit said he simply trying to juice team spirit for the men's basketball game this Saturday. The student now is asking CSU fans to wear orange, a former team color no longer worn by the Colorado State Rams.
