A variety of sentences were handed down in the Combined Courts at Hot Sulphur Springs during the past two weeks. Among them were:
Robert M. Silva, 37, of Granby, was found guilty of 3rd degree assault - knowingly/recklessly causing injury and criminal mischief - $100-$500 and was sentenced to six days in jail and a new term of two years of supervised probation. He was ordered to pay fines and costs of $1,460 and to perform a total of 48 hours of community service. In a separate case, he was found guilty of driving under the influence and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and was sentenced to 40 days in jail and two years of probation with alcohol supervision (concurrent with above case). He was also ordered to pay fines and costs of $1,403, to perform 80 hours of community service, and to complete an alcohol evaluation and alcohol treatment.
Aaron S. Gibas, 24, of Winter Park, was found guilty of marijuana cultivation and menacing and was sentenced to 90 days in jail with credit for 90 days served and a new term of three years of supervised probation. He was ordered to pay fines, fees and costs of $2,597, to perform 80 hours of community service, to successfully complete treatment as recommended by a probation officer, and to submit to and pay for random alcohol and drug testing.
Kimball A. Pease, 58, of Parshall, was found guilty of driving under the influence and was sentenced to 365 days in jail with 350 days suspended and credit for two days served and 18 months of probation. He was also given a deferred sentence of 90 days in jail with 75 days suspended and 18 months of probation (concurrent with above) on a charge of prohibited use of a weapon - while drunk. He was ordered to pay fines and costs of $2,042.30, to perform a total of 80 hours of community service, and to complete alcohol evaluation and treatment as recommended by a probation officer.
Alisa C. Tork, 48, of Grand Lake, was found guilty of possession of one to eight ounces of marijuana and was sentenced to 18 months in jail (suspended) and two years of supervised probation. She was ordered to pay $1,384.50 in fines and costs, and to complete an inpatient treatment program. In a separate case, she was found guilty of criminal mischief - under $500 and was sentenced to a new term of two years of supervised probation. She was ordered to pay fines and costs of $182, to perform 60 hours of community service, and to make a $100 charitable contribution.
Stephanie J. Lucas, 40, of Fraser, was given a deferred sentence of two years of supervised probation on a charge of 3rd degree assault - knowingly/recklessly causing injury. She was ordered to pay $1,412.50 in fines and costs, to perform 96 hours of community service, to complete violence treatment, and to make a $500 contribution to The Advocates.
Jamie Adrian Avita, 21, of Denver, was found guilty of driving under restraint and failure to display proof of insurance and was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 150 days suspended and credit for 14 days served. The defendant was also ordered to pay fines and costs of $737.50.
Ronda J. Reed, 44, of Granby, was found guilty of driving under the influence and was sentenced to 365 days in jail with 335 days suspended. She was also given a deferred sentence of two years of unsupervised probation on a charge of prohibited use of weapon - while drunk. She was ordered to pay fines and costs of $666.50, to perform a total of 145 hours of community service, to abstain from alcohol during probation and treatment, and to make a $350 contribution to DARE.
Jessica Inez Foltz, 28, of Fraser, was found guilty of harassment and was sentenced to 180 days in jail (suspended) and a new one year term of unsupervised probation. She was also ordered to pay $210 in fines and costs and to complete 72 hours of community service.
Bradley J. Ward, 31, of Conifer, was given a deferred sentence of one year of unsupervised probation on a charge of obstructing a police officer. He was ordered to pay fines, fees and costs of $284.50, to perform 60 hours of community service, and to make a $300 contribution to the Mountain Family Center.
