Granby Rec offers trips, gardening, and day camps

GRANBY- The Granby Recreation Department will sponsor a paintball games trip on Sunday, June 3 for anyone ages 10 to adult. The cost is $50 and the fee includes transportation, four hours of play, rental of paintball gun, safety equipment, and 500 paintballs. Meet at 9 a.m. the Granby Community Building. We return by 5:30 p.m. Preregistration by May 30.

Join the Granby Rec and Grand County gardener Peg Steffen to learn how to garden in a mountain environment. Topics covered include soil and site preparation, plant materials that grow in high altitudes, perennial and rock gardening, native plants, and principles of Xeri-scape landscaping. The class will be held on Wednesday, June 13 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Granby Community Building. The cost is $25 and preregistration is required.

The Granby Rec is offering a summer youth day camp program. Day camp includes Monday Fundays golf and tennis lessons, and Friday Flings. Upcoming Monday Fundays include Argo Mine Tour on June 11, and Casa Bonita on June 18. Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday day camp includes activities such as golf, tennis, swim lessons, and library programs. Every Friday there is a special field trip planned. Upcoming Friday Flings include; Friday, June 15, Rocky Mountain Rep. Theater and Rocky Mountain National Park; and Friday, June 22, Pirates Cove Water Park. Day camp is open to children ages 5 and up.Meet at the Granby Elementary School lunchroom at 8 a.m. and pick up is by 5:30 p.m. The cost is $29 per day. Preregistration is required.
