Because of low water levels at Wolford Mountain Reservoir, the boat ramp will be closing at 7 p.m. on Oct. 14, officials of the Colorado River District said. The closure will last through the winter. The reservoir campground will remain open and all use fees will remain in effect. People with canoes, rowboats or other hand-launched vessels can still access the reservoir at the campground as well as at the dam.Anglers are still welcome to fish from the reservoir banks at the campground and at the dam. Officials also remind the public driving along the reservoir shoreline is not permitted at any time. Motor vehicular use is restricted to the established roads. Those with hand-launched boats are urged to use caution, especially in low light situations. Because of the low water, obstacles not previously marked could be emerging close to the surface. When ice forms this winter, the boat ramp will remain closed and all highway vehicles will be prohibited from driving on the ice. Only snowmobiles and off-highway vehicles will be allowed to drive on the reservoir ice, and recreationists are reminded that they do so at their own risk.
