Winter Park Town Council

The Winter Park Town Council is seeing signs of a successful investment in an after-school activity bus, which the town started subsidizing this school year.

In its 24 days of operation at the time of the meeting, the activity bus has transported 403 riders, according to a report from Winter Park Town Manager Drew Nelson.

The amount of ridership on the bus is "extremely good," Nelson said, who also commented on the productiveness of the program in providing a valuable service to the citizens of Winter Park. This bus ride offers tangible benefits to students and parents by saving them time and money as well as offering a safe way for children to return to the Winter Park and Fraser area.

The Winter Park Town Council approved $15,000 in funding for the bus during a Sept. 4 council meeting. The bus shuttles students home to the Fraser Valley after participating in after-school activities in Granby.

Enterprise Initiative asks for town dollars

The now-called Grand Enterprise Initiative announced earlier in the month of November that it would be expanding its grass-roots economic development efforts to all of Grand County. The initiative is asking the council for support in expanding their operation. The board took the request under consideration and will decide whether to award the initiative monetary support. Enterprise Facilitator Patrick Brower has been offering free and confidential business management coaching for new and expanding businesses in the Granby area and now plans to offer his service throughout the county.

The Sushi Bar changes location

The Winter Park Town Council approved a change of location for a liquor license for The Sushi Bar, which will be moving to a location next to the Star of India restaurant in Copper Creek Square.

The Sushi Bar is still awaiting approval from the state, however the approval from the Winter Park town council is another step towards making the big move.
