Obituary: Thompson

Robert George Thompson was born Oct. 2, 1935, in Denver, to Carolyn Schiffman and Arthur Thompson. He passed away in his home Dec. 5, he was 77 years old.

He grew up as an only child in Grand Lake, where his parents were very involved in the development of the small community. He attended Colorado State University where he was awarded a degree in zoology. Bob spent most of his career managing federal fish hatcheries in Leadville, Colorado, Jones Hole, Utah, and Kalispell, Montana, among other places. Bob and Carolyn retired in 1995 and returned to Colorado, eventually settling in Crawford.

Bob was a confirmed bachelor until he met and married the love of his life, Carolyn (Burnham Clements) in 1972. He was a wonderful husband and father to her four children.

He enjoyed skiing, hiking, hunting, target shooting, camping, and was an avid reader and always politically informed. He served on the Crawford town council.

Robert was preceded in death by his son Richard Clements. Robert is survived by his wife Carolyn Thompson, sons Paul and patrick Clements, and daughter Annie Clements Eckman.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday Dec. 13, at the United Methodist Church of Crawford. Friends are welcome to attend the service.
