Colorado Gives Day Raises More Than $105,000 for Grand County Nonprofits
On Tuesday, Dec. 4, donors from across the nation showed their unwavering support of Colorado nonprofits by contributing $15 million to 1,258 organizations during Community First Foundation's Colorado Gives Day; an initiative to increase philanthropy in Colorado through on-line giving.
The third annual event brought in more than 68,000 donations totaling $15 million, a 20 percent increase over last year, with contributions ranging from $10 to $200,000. "What a tremendous gift the Community First Foundation has given to Colorado nonprofits," said Megan Ledin, executive director of the Grand Foundation.
On behalf of all the Grand County nonprofits participating in this year's Colorado Gives Day, we would like to sincerely thank every generous donor that stepped forward during this Historic 24 Hours to Give Where You Live. Together we were able to raise more than $105,000 for organizations serving Grand County.
"The individual giver is so important for agencies such as ours, and the generosity of our community was truly demonstrated in the level of donations we received," said Deb Bittner, executive director of Advocates. "It is always inspiring to see so many people banding together for the greater good."
This sentiment was echoed repeatedly throughout the Colorado Gives Day campaign.
Being geographically widespread provides unique challenges to the Grand County nonprofit sector. Although each local agency serves a unique mission, Colorado Gives Day offers us the opportunity to come together as a community for one common yet simple cause; to increase giving. 'Tis the season!
