The search for an East Grand School District superintendent soon will be entering the interviewing stage, with applications for the position due this Thursday, Jan. 10.
The Colorado Association of School Boards, which is managing the superintendent search for the district, has so-far received 20 applications, according to Debbie Flynn of CASB. Flynn said typically more applications come in closer to or on the deadline day, and that the number of interested applicants for East Grand's position so far is considered an average amount for the district's size.
Meanwhile, the school district is accepting applications - also due on Jan. 10 - for community groups to participate in the interviews with superintendent finalists.
The district plans to have four interview groups, with one comprised of the board of education members, another of community members, one of staff members, and another comprised of district and administrative staff members.
Interviews of superintendent finalists take place for the full day on Feb. 1. As of Tuesday, as many as seven volunteers from throughout the community have applied to be on the community committee, according to Sarah Berggren of East Grand Schools. The district is seeking eight to 12 people for that committee.
Individuals will be selected to ensure the committees represent K-12 education, as well as a cross-section of the community, according to the district. Those who participate must complete a two-hour training session beforehand. Interested parties should contact the district at 970-887-2581.
