GRAND LAKE - The Grand Lake episode of Hotel Impossible, which features the Western Riviera motel in Grand Lake, airs at 8 p.m. on Monday, March 25, on the Travel Channel.
Designer Blanche Garcia and Grand County-based contractor TDS Construction completed a remodel of Room 6 at the Western Riviera during a five-day shoot in February. The show's host Anthony Melchiorri experienced Grand Lake's mid-winter activities, such as snowmobiling, ice fishing and the town's annual Winter Carnival.
Viewing parties in town are being planned for the show's airing, with Colorado's Director of Tourism Al White and Colorado Film Commissioner Donald Zuckerman invited to join Diane Butler of the Grand County Office of Economic Development and the town's new mascot "Bruce the Moose" to see the remodeled room prior to the show.
The Western Riviera's owner Michael Tompkins bet Melchiorri a beer that the Grand Lake episode of Hotel Impossible will be the most-watched episode of the show's two-season history. A contest ensued as to what Colorado beer Tompkins should buy Melchiorri if he loses the bet, with results of a poll on Facebook to be the deciding factor. As of Tuesday, 402 people (nearly the full-time resident population of Grand Lake) had voted on the beer poll, with Grand Lake Brewery still in the lead.
