Mountain Parks Electric, Inc. is having an election to fill seats on its six-member board of directors. Voters throughout the Mountain Parks community should be receiving ballots in the mail this week.
For the purpose of the election of the members of the board, the areas serviced by the Cooperative are divided in six districts. The term of each member selected is three years, and directors exercise all of the powers of the Cooperative, except those powers reserved to members in accordance with the bylaws of Mountain Parks Electric, Inc.
Candidates running for District 1 are incumbant Alexander Buhayar of Fraser and challenger Richard Jernigan of Winter Park.
Another race in District 3 in Jackson County includes incumbant Carl Trick II of Cowdrey and Donald L. McKinley of Walden.
Mail-in ballots for the board of director election were mailed April 16 to all members residing in District 1 and District 3. In order to be counted, the return envelope must be signed and mailed to Mountain Parks Electric, Inc. in Granby no later than April 26.
Members in District 1 and District 3 who do not vote by mail may vote in person by floor ballot from 8 a.m. to 9:25 a.m. the day of the Annual Meeting.
The results of the election will be announced at the Mountain Parks Electric, Inc. Annual Meeting on Saturday, May 11, held at Mountain Parks' main office warehouse at 321 W. Agate Avenue in Granby.
