HOT SULPHUR SPRINGS — County officials are looking at developing a “community profile” to help stimulate economic growth in the area.
According to a presentation at the board of commissioner’s meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 11, the project will collect data on guests, residents, businesses and county infrastructure. It will compare that information with competing communities and identify industry segments that could be supported with additional investment.
As a county project, it will be funded with county dollars.
The community profile project steering committee will include the Grand County Office of Economic Development, town managers, chamber directors and other identified stakeholders. Project manager Jeremy Kennell, with the Fraser and Winter Park Chamber, will help provide direction.
The Fraser and Winter Park Chamber of Commerce had initially proposed the idea to the county commissioners as a project for the Fraser Valley, but commissioners asked them to expand it to the entire county. Representatives with the chamber and office of economic development expect final analysis and research to be completed in May 2015. In the meantime, they’ll be interviewing consultants this month, selecting contracts and launching a public information campaign in March.
