Special districts are calling for nominations

Grand County’s special districts have a slew of board seats up for election on May 6. For potential candidates interested in running, we’ve assembled necessary and useful information for some of the county’s main districts. Additional questions can be directed to each district’s designated election official, or DEO. The deadlines for filing self-nomination and acceptances forms in all districts is Friday, Feb. 28, 2014. There are a total of 54 special districts in the county. East Grand Fire Protection District No. 4

Seats available: Three board positions, each with a four-year term.

DEO: Todd Holzwarth, 970-726-5824

Forms: Self-nomination and acceptance forms are available at the fire district’s headquarters station, 77601 U.S. Highway 40, Winter Park.

Grand Fire Protection District 1

Seats available: Three board positions, each with a four-year term.

DEO: Schelly Olson, 970-887-3380

Forms: Self-nomination and acceptance forms are available at the fire district’s headquarters station, 60500 U.S. Highway 40, Granby.

Grand Lake Fire Protection District

Seats available: Three board positions, each with a four-year term.

Forms: Self-nomination and acceptance forms are available at the fire district’s headquarters station, 201 W. Portal Road, Grand Lake , or at www.grandlakefire.org.

Hot sulphur Springs/Parshall Fire Protection District

Seats available: Four board positions, each with a four-year term.

DEO: Deb Thompson, 970-725-3355

Forms: Self-nomination and acceptance forms are available at Hot Sulphur Springs Town Hall, 513 Aspen St.

Kremmling Fire Protection District

Seats available: Three board positions, each with a four-year term.

DEO: Sharon Cesar, 970-724-3795

Forms: Self-nomination and acceptance forms are available at the fire district’s headquarters station, 1320 Eagle Ave., Kremmling , or at Kremmling Town Hall, 200 Eagle Ave.

Fraser Valley Metropolitan Recreation District

Seats available: Three board positions, each with a four-year term.

DEO: Sarah Rosene, Grand County Clerk and Recorder, 970-725-3110

Forms: The district is coordinating with the county for the election. Self-nomination and acceptance forms are available from at the Grand Park Recreation Center, One Main Street off U.S. Highway 40, Fraser, or at the county clerk and recorder’s office, 150 Moffat Ave., Hot Sulphur Springs.

GRand Lake Metropolitan Recreation District

Seats available: Three board positions, each with a four-year term.

DEO: Kathy Lewis, 970-627-8580

Forms: Self-nomination and acceptance forms are available from at the district’s clubhouse, 1415 County Road 48, Grand Lake.

The Sky-Hi attempted to contact Cole White, DEO for the Kremmling Memorial Hospital district, on Monday, Feb. 10 and Tuesday Feb. 11. Calls were not returned, and the district has not yet filed a legal notice for the election.
