Middle Park Medical hosts Health Equity Learning Series

KREMMLING — Middle Park Medical Center presents “Social Movement-Building for Health Equity,” the second in the Health Equity Learning Series slated for Grand County this year.

This presentation is a viewing party of the live-streamed event and will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 8 at Middle Park Medical Center, Kremmling, 214 South Fourth Street. The public is invited to attend this free community event. Lunch will be served for those who RSVP.

The Health Equity Learning Series is made possible by a grant of The Colorado Trust awarded to Northwest Colorado Community Health Partnership, as well as various other communities throughout the state.

Manuel Pastor, PhD., will lead the presentation. Dr. Pastor is a professor of sociology, American studies and ethnicity at the University of Southern California where he also serves as director of the Program for Environmental and Regional Equity and co-director of the university’s Center for the Study of Immigrant Integration. His recent research has focused on the economic, environmental and social conditions that low-income urban communities experience in the United States.

In the presentation, Dr. Pastor will explore how building a social movement can help achieve health equity and how communities can be involved.

Those interested in attending this event are asked to RSVP by 5 p.m. Monday, May 5, by calling Elizabeth Hutches at 970-724-3148. Participants are asked to arrive between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on the day of the event. Lunch will be provided, and there is no cost to attend.
