The Winter Park Chocolate Festival marks its 5-year anniversary on opening day of the summer season at the Village at Winter Park Resort. More than 20 vendors will be sampling and selling chocolates, sweets, and a few choice gift items from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., on Saturday, June 14.
“Each year the Winter Park Chocolate Festival gets bigger and better,” says organizer Dana Cain. “The regional chocolatiers really look forward to spending the day in such a beautiful setting, and the crowds are definitely appreciative that there are so many chocolate companies sampling and selling all day.” Last year, nearly 9,000 chocolate samples were consumed at the festival.
While chocolate is clearly the main draw, the annual festival also features hourly entertainment. This year, live music will be provided by Skean Dubh, one of the region’s best Celtic bands. A Chocolate-and-beer pairing demo, led by Julie Pech, the Chocolate Therapist, takes place at noon, And for the kids, a pudding eating contest (no hands!), gears up on the gazebo stage at 11 a.m. Kids and adults get to compete for the coveted “Chocolate Crown” at 3 p.m. Win it by eating the Hershey Kisses in 60 seconds.
The more serious Truffle Competitions will be judged by this year’s guest chef, Paxton Gross of Concertos in Chocolate.
