Obituary: Bruce Alan Lang

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Bruce was known as a colorful local character of Winter Park for the last 40 years. His quick-witted one-liners are his legacy to those who crossed paths with him. For those who knew him more than casually, he shared intellectual and deep discussions, along with many laughs in between.

He was a “Cat In the Hat” (his favorite author Dr. Seuss). He survived many lives as a cat would. He left us peacefully in his sleep free of dependence and pain. He loved the mountains and would never leave Grand County; even Denver was too far for him. He loved to fish, sit in the woods, and listen to loud music, baseball and good-looking women. Lately his peace and contentment was on his racing sail boat “BOB,” picking up the nickname “Bobba Louie,” after his last dog Louie. His sail number was “GR8.”

His most recent pleasure was his discovered passion in art and baking. He was preparing to work in the bakery for Safeway. His collection of cork artwork will be on display at Winter Park Framewerx in the near future.

His oldest brother “Jeff “preceded his passing 31 years ago. He is survived by his parents Arthur (90) and Virginia (92) Lang, of Highlands Ranch; brother Craig Lang of Lakewood; and sister April Hilton of Granby. His beloved nieces and nephews are Nick Ferri of Wynnewood, Okla., Jessica Lang in Denver, Jason Lang in Denver, Erica Thomas in Vail and Jacqueline Thomas in Winter Park.

Please join us for a celebration of his life and memories on Friday Aug. 8, at 3 p.m., “Adolfs” Event Center in Old Town Winter Park (1008 Winter Park Drive). The whole family would enjoy your presence to share your story and memories. As Bruce would say, “Thanks for sharing your air with me.” Please email photos in advance to April so we can include them in the slide presentation.

Condolences or contact can be made to April Hilton, P.O. Box 1402 Granby, CO, email aprilhilton2@icloud or call 970-531-1267.
