Keyser Creek Road (FSR 139) will close at the junction of Keyser Ridge Road (FSR 140) Tuesday, Oct. 29 to Wednesday, Oct 30, for a culvert repair that will restore access to Keyser Ridge Road. The culvert was blown out in the spring flooding of 2011 and access to Keyser Ridge Road has not been possible since then without a high clearance vehicle or ATV. The U.S. Forest Service is partnering with Grand County Road and Bridge to complete the repair work. This repair work was scheduled to occur between hunting seasons to minimize impact to the public. Other portions of Keyser Creek Road will remain open, but through-travel will not be possible.
Sulphur Ranger District is planning to burn slash piles created by forest management projects this week in several locations along the southern portion of Kauffman Creek Road (FSR 121.1) off Highway 125 near Willow Creek Pass. Pile burning was expected to begin Tuesday, Oct. 29, and may take place over several days. There is currently between 3-7 inches of snow on the ground in this location. Wind, fuel moisture and snow cover all play a factor in where and whether ignition occurs. Burning elsewhere around the Sulphur Ranger District will continue over the coming weeks as conditions allow. For more information, contact 970-887-4145.
