Possible phone scams target Middle Park Medical Center patients

Some Grand county residents may have been the target of a bill collection scam earlier this week related to medical bills.

The Middle Park Medical Center was made aware of suspicious phone calls received over the last week, in which the caller posed as a representative of the hospital or one of its billing companies, according to Brendan Gale, Chief Financial Officer at Middle Park Medical Center. The person receiving the call was led to believe that there was an outstanding bill that needed to be paid immediately, and then was asked to provide a credit card number and other personal information.

“We regret that anyone received an attempted collection call that did not originate from Middle Park Medical Center or one of its billing companies,” Gale said. “Information about these incidents is being shared with law enforcement agencies.”

If you are contacted by individuals claiming to be from Middle Park Medical Center, please obtain as much information as possible to assist law enforcement. Anyone receiving such a call should contact Middle Park Medical Center’s business office at 970-724-3100 to verify the legitimacy of the inquiry, and contact Kremming Police Department through dispatch at 970-725-3387.
