Rocky Mountain Rep. brings holiday cheer to Grand Lake

Grand Lake’s spirited Christmas tradition returns to Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre next week with a weekend of holiday cheer. RMRT presents the fifth annual “Home for the Holidays,” a weekend of joyous tunes and heart-warming performances from some of their most popular alums. Also back by popular demand is the free community night, “Deck the Halls,” an evening of caroling and merriment that is open to the public.

This year’s production brings Christina Myers, Dylan Paul, Matilde Bernabei, Chance Wall and AJ Robb to Grand Lake to share their favorite Christmas memories and perform an original holiday show created each year by Artistic Director Michael Querio.

“Home for the Holidays” has quickly become a popular holiday tradition in Grand County, drawing crowds from the Front Range and beyond. “Returning to Grand Lake each Christmas is something I treasure greatly,” said Querio. “What started as a casual get-together among company members and local patrons has really grown into something special. That so many people around the state of Colorado have made this their holiday destination means so much to us. It’s truly remarkable, and the perfect time of the year to celebrate this magical town.”

Decorations at the theatre complex are in full bloom, as RMRT prepares to open its doors for its weekend of joy. For the third consecutive year, RMRT kicks off the weekend with “Deck the Halls,” a free community night at 6 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 13. Festivities include caroling and free refreshments, a visit from Santa Claus himself, and a showing of the holiday classic “Scrooge” — the musical 1970 version starring Albert Finney, which will be played on a full-size movie screen in the theatre auditorium.
