The Grand County Council on Aging was established as a nonprofit organization in 1972 to meet the needs of area residents 60 years of age and older, as well as disabled adults ages 18-59. After 42 years, Grand County Council on Aging continues its mission to assist Grand County seniors and disabled citizens in maintaining their independence. Current services provided by the Council include health promotion, recreational and social events, information referrals, education outreach, and client transportation. The transportation program is the basis for much of the Council’s existing programming and remains one of the most important services offered to Grand County seniors and disabled residents. Transportation service is provided for shopping, recreational trips, social activities, and local and out-of-county (Denver, Steamboat Springs and Summit County) medical appointments. The cost of transportation is supplemented by the Council to make trips more affordable. No one is denied service due to lack of ability to contribute. Visit grandseniors.org or call 970-887-3222.
