Grand County Community Events Calendar, June 20 - 26

FRIDAY

June 20

Granby Rec. Summer Day Camp, 8 a.m., Granby Elementary School, Granby.

Conversational Spanish Group, 9 a.m., Rocky Mountain Roastery, Fraser. Level of group is generally intermediate. New people welcome. Any questions, contact Lori 970-531-0006.

High Country Conservatives, noon, Maverick’s Grille, Granby. Meet, learn and share conservative and Constitutional values. Hear candidates and support conservative causes. Buy your own lunch if you wish to eat.

Youth and Adult Tennis Lessons, 3 p.m., Raffety Park, Granby. Join tennis instructor Kate Walker for tennis lessons this summer. Racquets are available for use and pre-registration is requested. The cost is $50 for the 6 week session, $30 for 3 weeks, or $12 drop in. For more information or to register, contact the Granby Rec Department at 887-3961.

Flying Heels Rodeo, 3 p.m. junior rodeo, 7 p.m. open rodeo, Flying Heels Arena, Granby. The 2nd Annual Diaper Derby will also be taking place. This is a diaper fundraiser for the Pregnancy Resource connection of Granby. All size diapers are needed. Adults $10, kids and seniors $4, half off admission with package of diapers donation.

Friday Music Series, 4 p.m., Winter Park Resort, Winter Park. Enjoy a variety of live music on Fridays in the Village gazebo. With a great selection of local and Denver artists, relax by the pond after a long summer day on the mountain.

“Hands on a Hardbody,” 8 p.m., Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre, Grand Lake. This is the hilarious, hard-fought contest where only one winner can drive away with the American dream. Ten contestants. Four days. One truck. 970-627-5087

Coca-Cola Family Movie Night, 8 p.m., Winter Park, Winter Park. Showing a great selection of family and kid-friendly movies. Movies will be held outdoors on the lawn next to the Private Lesson Center and are free to the public. A limited number of chairs are provided. All movies begin just after sunset.

Timber Creek Campground Evening program, 8:30 p.m., Timber Creek Amphitheater, Rocky Mountain National Park. National Parks protect many natural and cultural resources. Learn about these and the history of the National Park Service.

SATURDAY

June 21

Wilderness Hike, 8:30 a.m., Monarch Lake, Granby. Join the Grand County Wilderness Group for a Wilderness Hike to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act at Monarch Lake. This easy/moderate hike is approximately 5 miles around the lake. For signup and information contact Christine Lee at sec@gcwg.org.

Wilderness Wonder of Music with the Alpine Classic Quartet, 2 p.m., Wilderness Wonder of Music, Church of the Eternal Hills, Tabernash. Alpine Classic Quartet performs a beautiful and lively Dvorjak Quartet. Reception and light refreshments follow. $25 per person, proceeds benefit Friends of Trail River Ranch.
