GRANBY —The Red Cross prepared a shelter in Granby for 175 youth camp evacuees on Friday night, Sept. 13.
As the flood surge spread in northern and eastern Colorado, a youth camp at the Estes Park YMCA was evacuated, and the 21 adults and 154 7th-graders made their way on Trail Ridge Road to Granby to spend the night at the East Grand Middle School.
Local high school students helped to set up the cots for the shelter, and Red Cross provided food. A commercial bus picked up the evacuees Saturday morning, Sept. 14, and took them home.
Meanwhile, numerous shelters in Colorado remain open to support those seeking refuge from widespread flooding, and some shelters and evacuation centers have closed in areas where evacuations have been lifted or residents no longer needed sheltering services.
