Fabric Nook offers learn-to-sew classes through Granby Recreation

Youngsters ages 10 and older can join instructor Lorene Linke from the Fabric Nook, Granby, to learn to quilt. Classes will cover understanding your machine, materials for patterns, tools for cutting quilt pieces, sewing squares and borders, and more. Participants will make a placemat or table runner. Bring your own machine (limited machines available for rent). Classes are $60 and will be held from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month, beginning Jan. 9 through March 27, at the Fabric Nook in Granby. Pre-registration is required by Jan. 6. For more information or to register, call the Granby Recreation Department at 887-3961.

Adult Sewing 101 classes are also being offered. Do you have a sewing machine collecting dust in the corner? Not sure how to use it or what to make? This six-week class will teach you how to understand your machine, pick patterns and material, use a pattern, layout and cutting, sew seams and hems, apply fasteners and details and more. Each student will walk away with a project chosen by you. Pre-registration also is required by Jan. 6. Call 887-3961 to register. A minimum of three students are needed for this class.
