Wow! The Town of Grand Lake has been able to transform a former elementary building into a gem for the community and visitors in just 15 months. Many volunteers and Town staff dared to dream and believe this building could be transformed by creating a business plan based on public input last year. We have been able to execute that plan to create a community event and recreation center for all generations to experience year-round. This includes WiFi throughout the building and spaces to rent for events, classes, education, arts, music, theater, conferences, parties, dances, crafts, indoor/outdoor fairs, movie nights, game room and education. We also have two rooms dedicated to fitness that are equipped with commercial quality equipment. The cardiovascular room has two new state of the art spin bikes, a treadmill, two different kinds of elliptical, air bike and a stair climber. The weight room has a three-person weight machine along with some free weights. We are expecting to increase our cardio equipment with three more pieces of equipment and add more free weights.

The History

Grand Lake purchased the former elementary building May 2015 from the East Grand School District. The Town of Grand Lake along with many dedicated volunteers have dreamed of new uses, believed that the community and visitors needed and wanted new uses for the building so we dared and have now transformed the former elementary school building into an event and recreation operation for all generations. The Grand Lake former elementary school building was built in 1979 by tax payers’ dollars. The building operated as an elementary school for 26 years. Grand Lake former elementary school was closed by the East Grand School District during 2010.
