Grand County Library District New Online Library
Ryan Summerlin February 24, 2012
If you were one of the happy people unwrapping your Kindle Fire, Nook or IPAD this Holiday Season, you are part of a fundamental change affecting the way information is enjoyed and accessed. Finding and reading a favorite novel or exploring a new subject is now as easy and instant as a tap or two on the screen of your new device. No more book stores, library visits, lost books or late fees. Most of what you want can be downloaded and read.
The sale of eBooks continues to surge, doubling in the first nine months of 2011 and dwarfing growth in other areas of the publishing industry.
The Grand County Library District (GCLD) is keeping up.
In Oct 2011, the District received a generous grant from the Colorado Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) to extend the eBook collection. Library card holders can now access and download best-sellers and classics in audiobook or eBook format, music and video – all available for free, 24/7 from the library’s website at www.gcld.org/ebooks. With hundreds of popular fiction and non-fiction titles to choose from, the collection is guaranteed to have something for everyone.
In addition, the website offers step by step guides on setup for your device and easy instructions on downloading e-content.
If you need help with your new device, or if downloading library e-content seems a little daunting, contact your local GCLD library branch and a Grand County librarian will be happy to assist you.
