History group plans Ute Native American Exhibit
Ryan Summerlin May 20, 2014
Grand County Historical Association is preparing a new exhibit on Ute native people of Grand County. The Association is inviting anyone with Ute or Native American heritage to become involved. The new exhibit will explore how the Ute adapted to changing environments and events, and survived. Displays at Cozens Ranch Museum in Fraser will show evidence of the earliest first people in Grand County over 10,000 years ago, and discuss their forced settlement to distant reservations. The exhibit, funded in part by the Fraser Valley Lions Club, will open in Summer 2014. Grand County Historical Association looks forward to inviting the public to the Ute exhibit and programs. If you or your family would like to share Ute or Native American photographs, stories or objects from Grand County with the Grand County Historical Association, contact Kristi at Cozens Ranch Museum, 970-726-5488, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
