The 10th annual Moonlight Ski Progressive Dinner Fundraiser for the Grand Huts Association is set to take place Saturday, Feb. 23. The event will take place at the Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic Center and start times for the event are 5:30, 6, or 6:30 p.m. This event benefits the Grand Huts Association and will be celebrating the opening of the Broome Hut.
Tickets to the event are $50 for adults and $15 for children under the age of 16. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Participants in the event will have the chance to ski to different locations to experience a five course meal which includes hors d’oeuvres, soup, salad, main course, and dessert and wine.
It is a 1.2 mile trip to the first stop on the route, the historical Rowly Homestead, where appetizers will be served. Participants will then have two options that vary in difficulty.
The first option for beginner to intermediate skiers is to loop back to Snow Mountain Ranch where dinner will be served at the Leggett Center along with dessert and wine with live music by “Tight Like That” and a silent and live auction with a number of great items up for grabs. Some items that will be available for bidding include pottery from local artists, lift tickets, backcountry gear, and many more.
The second option is meant for more experienced skiers and is comprised of a two mile round trip to yurt that was recently constructed by the YMCA where soup and bread will be served and a bonfire will be roaring. The total trip to the yurt and back to the Leggett Center is around 5 miles.
“We are thrilled to have the Broome Hut open as it is a place of great joy and beauty for all who visit,” said Katie Soles, an organizer of the event. “We greatly appreciate the 6,000 plus hours of volunteer labor that went into constructing the Broome Hut and the continued support of the Grand Huts Association by the community at large as well as by the Grand Foundation.”
