BROOMFIELD- For the last 14 years, Vail Resorts’ Specialty Sports Venture (SSV) has raised funds for local charities over the holidays with its Adopt-A-Cause campaign. In the Fraser Valley, this year’s campaign benefits the Shining Stars Foundation, a local non-profit committed to transforming the lives of children with pediatric cancer and other life-threatening illnesses through year-round recreational and social programs. Kicking off at Thanksgiving, Winter Park’s Ski Depot Sports and Rocky Mountain Eyewear has raised more than $800, with the campaign stretching through Jan. 6. Vail Resorts Echo, the company’s sustainability program, will match 50 cents for every dollar donated.
This year’s Adopt-A-Cause campaign takes place in more than 165 SSV retail and rental stores from San Francisco to the Rocky Mountains, and benefits 20 organizations. SSV employees in each region selected a local charity to partner with and are rallying customers to support their cause when making purchases at the stores. Last year’s Adopt-A-Cause campaign generated $213,253 for 17 organizations including the Vail Resorts Echo match.
Customers can support the Shining Stars Foundation and the Adopt-A Cause program at Winter Park’s Ski Depot Sports and Rocky Mountain Eyewear through Jan. 6, 2013. For more information, go to vailresortsecho.com.
