What’s happening at East Grand School District

• On Tuesday, November 1 the EGSD Board of Education will host the first of four Community Forums. Board Members will meet with community members and parents from 5:15 – 6:00 p.m. at Middle Park High School. We encourage parents and community members to participate; EGSD Board Members look forward to hearing from you. The Board Meeting will follow the community forum at 6:15 p.m. The Board will meet at each school over the next few months.

• MPHS Scholarship Fair Oct. 26-27 MPHS Commons: Yes, during Parent-Teacher Conferences, 4:45 – 7:15 p.m. Sponsored by The Lions Club and MPHS Guidance Office. Meet local scholarship providers and get information about applications and deadlines. You can’t win a scholarship if you don’t apply. Not all scholarships are academically focused. Call the Guidance office for more info. 970-887-2104 ext. 208.

• MPHS Parent / Teacher Conferences Oct. 26-27, 4:45 – 7:15 p.m. First quarter Parent-Teacher Conferences will be in the MPHS Commons area. Come meet with your student’s teachers and find out the great things that they are doing.

• On Thursday Oct. 27, the GES Parent Teacher Association will host “Pastries with Parents” at 7:30 a.m. in the library. Come and find out what is happening at the school and how to get involved with the PTA.

• Please bring in your Box Tops for Education to any school.

• Granby Elementary School Student Council is organizing a food drive to benefit Mountain Family Center now through November 8. If the goal of 350 cans is reaches student council will sponsor a sports day. Students will wear clothing from their favorite sports team. Student council at Granby is excited to help the community. Please donate if you “can”.

• Halloween is coming up and there are school and community events starting on Thursday. Please be extra careful this weekend when driving as many of our students will be out in their costumes.

• Granby Elementary School completed the Walk-a-Thon fundraiser, with students earning $9,374.95 toward the $40,000 goal. The second highest overall fundraiser was Alexis G. who earned a family membership to the YMCA. The highest overall fundraiser was Anna L., who will be the Vice Principal for a Day and earned a shopping spree to Scholastic Books. The fourth grade was the highest fundraising class with a total of $4,230.36 earned by fourth graders alone. Other top fundraisers for each grade level are as follows: Kindergarten – Carver B., Lillie S., Aiden K., Chase F. First Grade – Annabelle S., Sydney R., Micah D., Lejla B. Second Grade – Tyler S., Zac B., Dillon S. Third Grade – Jael M., Franklin S., Peyton F. Fourth Grade – Aubree H., Cruze H., Carrie T., Haley M. Fifth Grade – Abilene Y., Landon E., Emmah M., Kylie D.

• East Grand School District had 26 teachers lead presentations at the annual NW BOCES Collaboration Day on October 7. This was by far, the most leadership involvement of any district that participated. Those staff members are: Darcee Kissler, Katrina Larson, Abby Loberg, Marc Loberg, Kelly Martin, Bree Baughman, Lynn Burrows, Mames Chamberlin, Nicole Cimino, Amy Horton, Diane Jacobsen, Lindsay Jarzynka, Shelley Madsen, Ann-Margaret Manyak, Kathy McClain, Mandy McConathy, Cindy Rimmer, Jenny Cautrell, McKayla Dafoe, Gay Linke, Joan Miyauchi, Sara Rector, Adrienne Stine, Chris Tinkum, Lindsay Dalton, Ben Polonowski, and Thom Schnellinger.

• “Art for a Cause” is FVES Third-grade student, Mazie Giberson’s creation. She is passionate about art, community, and helping others. Mazie and her Art teacher, Ms. Madsen, have organizes this project. Students create art projects to be sold at the Holiday Artisan Fair with all proceeds going to the Mountain Family Center and Mountain Pet Rescue. Join Mazie as she leads students in “Art for a Cause” on Thursdays from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. in the FVES Art room.
