Workers Comp presentation offered to area employers
September 6, 2016
Workforce centers across Colorado will be launching their Connect Business Outreach Series in September by offering a series of free presentations to help employers better understand the state’s workers’ compensation laws.
At 2 p.m., September 13 a Business Education Presentation will be hosted by the Granby Workforce Center. The presentation will help employers learn about workers’ compensation coverage requirements, statutory exceptions to those requirements, how to obtain coverage and potential consequences of failing to maintain insurance.
Additionally, representatives from the Division of Workers Compensation will explain the steps an employer needs to take in the event of an injury to ensure that the injured worker gets appropriate treatment and benefits and that all parties receive timely notification of the injury.
“Most business owners are familiar with the basic idea of workers’ compensation,” says Interim Workforce Center Director Clarke Becker, “but they may not fully understand their responsibilities. The presentation we will be offering will underscore the most important information business owners and human resource professionals need, delivered in a way that’s easily understood and immediately applicable.”
The free workshop provide an opportunity to build knowledge, improve practices and make sense of it all. Employers will learn their rights and responsibilities, get their questions answered and come away from the presentation with better insights about workers’ compensation in Colorado.
The presentation is free but seating is limited. To learn more, including the location of the event, and to RSVP, call the Granby Workforce Center at 970-887-1857.
