November 19, 2013
GRANBY — Granby Bait and Tackle plans to host a grand opening celebration Saturday, Nov. 16 at its location in west Granby, 843 W. Agate Ave. (Hwy. 40) between Grand County Automotive and the Homestead Motel.
“We’ll be serving hot dogs, chips drinks and sides for people who want to come by and see our new store,” said Mike Ivy, who owns and operates the store with his wife Kim. “The community is invited to see our new business. We will also be conducting a raffle in which people who drop by can win merchandise from the store.”
The store offers a full range of fishing supplies for Grand County anglers, such as bait, lures, flies, rods, reels and a wide assortment of specialized fishing gear. An inventory of seasonal items for outdoor enthusiasts will also be offered, depending on demand.
“I’ve been fishing in Grand County for years and I’ve always wanted to have a shop that can help enhance the fishing experience of other anglers,” Ivy said. Ivy has a home in the Grand Lake area. He hopes to establish good relationship with local guides and guide services, offering the experience of fishing along with the products needed to fish.
“We’ll be selling more than bait and tackle,” Ivy said. “Our goal is to offer the friendly support and advice so that anglers will have the best experience possible on the lakes and streams here in Grand County.”
Enterprise Facilitator Patrick Brower, who works with the Grand Enterprise Initiative by providing free and confidential business management coaching across the county, worked with Mike and Kim on their new business venture.
The store will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week, with extended hours on special opening weekends. For more information, call 970-557-3023.
