Captured: WP fugitive in custody

The manhunt has ended for a fugitive in Winter Park. Fraser/ Winter Park police captured the wanted man around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 15 on the Mary Jane road near Winter Park Resort. The suspect was at large over night after the manhunt was suspended around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14.
The hunt began when a man and woman fleeing Denver area police, and who are wanted in Jefferson County, entered the Winter Park Resort area on US Highway 40 near Mary Jane on the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 14. Colorado State Patrol and the Fraser/Winter Park police tried to intercept the vehicle on Berthoud Pass, which resulted in a car chase. The suspects crashed their vehicle about half of a mile east of the entrance to Mary Jane and US Highway 40. The female party was apprehended shortly after the suspects fled from the crash scene.
According to Grand County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Lt. Dan Mayer, the man and woman fled from their vehicle on foot near Mary Jane. Officials were able to apprehend the woman but the man remained at large throughout the night. A section of US Highway 40 from the south entrance of Winter Park to the entrance of Mary Jane was closed while officials searched for the man who was on foot. The Grand County Emergency Response Team and K9 Unit were called in, and were using infrared cameras to search for the man.
