Kremmling police seek comment from accident witnesses

The Kremmling Police Department is looking to speak with any witnesses to the motor vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 6:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21, on Colo. Highway 9 just south of Kremmling.

The accident involved a white Nissan sedan and a Ford pickup truck at the corner just north of the railroad bridge.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or drove through the scene prior to the highway being closed is asked to contact Chief Scott Spade or Sgt. Todd Wilson by calling 970-724-3318. Callers may leave a message with their name and phone number and an officer will return the call.

The accident

The accident left two individuals dead. David R. Torroni Jr., 20, of Vermont, is being held in custody on two counts of vehicular homicide, one count of vehicular assault, reckless driving, and driving under the influence.

Torroni was driving the Ford pickup southbound on Colorado Highway 9 when he crossed over the double yellow line into oncoming traffic and collided with the white Nissan sedan.

Two out of the three occupants of the sedan were killed by the accident while one survived the crash.

Brian K. Houle, 37, and Megan K. Ritter, 30, both of Ohio, were killed. The surviving occupant of the vehicle is Todd A. Craft, 34, of Kentucky.

“There were a number of people who drove through the scene prior to us being able to close the highway,” Spade said. “We want to speak to anyone [who saw the accident] just to complete the investigation.”
