Douglas Alan ‘Dal’ Lord
Douglas Alan ‘Dal’ Lord died on Nov. 13, 2012, in Denver at the age of 68. Born on May 28, 1944, in Denver, Dal was a resident of Grand County for three decades. For more than two of those decades, he worked for the James family at the Grand Lake Lodge, living there year-round for most of that time.
He was an avid Broncos fan and loved the Colorado mountains. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served his country in Vietnam, and he was the Grand Marshal on his 68th birthday in Grand Lake’s Memorial Day Parade.
His unconditional free spirit was one you could always count on, and count on having a good time when he was present. His nonjudgmental heart, spiritual wisdom and life experiences allowed him to reach out to friends in need of a kind ear. Many will remember him as their angel, putting a smile on their faces with just the right affirmation and/or quotes from his spiritual and life mentors to ease their situation.
He will be greatly missed.
Dal has a son, Scott David of San Diego, Calif.; and daughter Pam and family, also of San Diego. He also has a brother John, who lives with his wife Jenny in Cripple Creek.
All are invited to Dal’s wake on Saturday, Nov. 24, starting at 2 p.m. at Grumpy’s in Grand Lake. Interment of his ashes is also scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 24.
