Granby’s annual Trick or Treat Main Street event was held last Friday with hundreds of youngster and parents decked out in costumes wandering along the community’s main thoroughfare, Agate, Ave.

The event is sponsored by the Granby Chamber of Commerce and features local businesses on Granby’s “main street”, also known as Agate Ave. and US Highway 40, giving out candy to trick-or-treaters in celebration of fall’s annual ghouls and goblins extravaganza.

Additionally a costume contest is held in the community parking lot between Brickhouse 40 and Lina’s Pizza with hot dogs cooked and provided by Mountain Parks Electric. Those enjoying the activities were kept safe by local first responders who manned cross-walks and intersections, insuring to issues with passing traffic.

The Oct. evening’s event was well attended. Gayle Langley, Main Street Manager and Special Event Coordinator for the Granby Chamber, estimated attendance at the Costume Contest at around 500. Langley said there were approximately 1,000 individuals walking along Agate Ave. in Granby for the overall trick-or-treat activities.

“This event truly embodies what Granby is all about: EMS, GPD, Road & Bridge, the Granby Fire Department and the businesses all coming together to promote family-friendly fun, in a safe and inviting environment,” stated Langley. “The Chamber of Commerce and the Main Street program would like to thank all of those who contributed to its success.”
