Emergency Training Saturday, June 18
June 22, 2016
On Saturday, June 18 Grand Fire Protection District No. 1 had a Field Day which concluded a 40-hour Basic Wildland Firefighter class. This National Standard class is offered in Granby annually, said Assistant Chief Brad White, who acted as the Safety Officer for the day.
As part of the training day they put out a controlled fire next to their Red Dirt Station just off US Highway 40 near the YMCA.
All 10 men and women received their Red Card. Five instructors were on hand.
Ben Boucher, one of the new firefighters from the training class, also a resident firefighter with Grand Fire, was sent to assist on the Beaver Creek fire burning west of Walden.
