If concert reviews are any indication, expect a rocking and raucous concert when Red Priest takes the stage at the Church of the Eternal Hills at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31. Or as the Washington Post put it, “The performance by British period instrument quartet Red Priest of “The Four Seasons” at Dumbarton Church on Saturday didn’t so much breathe new life into Vivaldi as plunge an adrenaline-filled syringe into his heart.“
This is the second concert in the 2014 season of the Grand County Concert Series. A $4,000 grant awarded by Colorado Creative Industries to the Grand County Concert Series is funding part of the cost of the concert on Friday night. The East Grand Education Foundation is providing a $1,000 grant to make it possible for Red Priest to spend Thursday, Jan. 30, with students in the East Grand Schools.
“It’s an important part of our mission to connect professional, classical musicians with students,” said Judy Smith, President of the Grand County Concert Series. “We’re thrilled that students will meet and learn from a group as accomplished, well-respected and fun as Red Priest.”
Destinations West will provide lodging for Red Priest during their stay. Smith noted that local businesses, such as Destinations West, are Supporting Sponsors of the concert series and recognized at individual concerts. For the opening concert of the 2014 season, LD Watkins Construction Services Inc., McConnell Design & Printing Co., and Melem USA, LLC were the Supporting Sponsors.
