Acme Tribute band CD releases June 7
Ryan Summerlin June 6, 2014
Tracey Williams, Lead singer of the Acme Tribute band, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer on May 10, 2013. There is no test to check for ovarian cancer. With the Acme Band CD release slated for June 8, 2013, the band had to re-think it’s career moves. With the help of the head of Gynecological Oncology at University Hospital and follow-up care from Grand County Home Health Care, Tracey recovered from an eight-hour surgery and stage 3C cancer and lived to inspire Grand County residents to be strong and have hope during a rough period of recent cancer losses in the county.
At 7 p.m. on June 7, at Pancho & Lefty’s, the band will play its all-original CD from start to finish with comments and inside stories.
Acme Band is Hayden Burke, Tracey Williams, Mike Weadick , and Patrick Weadick. On the CD, former drummer Dale Williams plays most of the drum parts. All the songs on the CD are based on Hayden and Tracey’s move to Grand County and all the support they’ve found from their new neighbors in Grand Lake.
Tracey has learned that early diagnosis can change everything for cancer survival and suggests that any abnormal results from a routine pap smear should be taken very seriously, and affordable health care can help every woman to follow-up on any health questions. Tracey thanks community support, including the Kole fund, Dr. Susan Davidson, Grand County Home health care ( especially Val, Becca and Theresa), George and Merrie Coolen, Gladys, Bob King, Brad & Lynnea, Doris, Barry, Mindy, Jim and Steph, Pearl Knight, Peggy, and everyone who donated to the Tracey fund as well as friends, fans and family for everything they’ve done without regard for their own recognition.
