Students create art for a cause
November 1, 2016
Eight-year-old Mazie Giberson wanted to give back to the community in Grand County so she came up with an idea to help both people and animals. She had an idea to bring her peers—kindergarten-fifth grade together to make art. The art will be sold and all profits will go to the Mountain Family Center in Granby and Mountain Pet Rescue in Winter Park. The art workshops are being held in the art room at Fraser Valley Elementary School.
“I thought that people in the world and animals were having trouble,” Giberson said, “and I wanted to give back.”
The first event was on October 27 and there were about 20 students and several parents and volunteers present. The students began by each painting a canvas square with anything they wanted. Art ranged from rainbows to circles, and there was even a phoenix. The students will continue to make art every Thursday until November 17. The art will then be sold and the money will be donated to help the people and animals of Grand County
