Kremmling chef named cookbook editor

KREMMLING — Lisa George, co-owner and head chef at Latigo Dude Ranch in Kremmling, has been named Cookbook Editor for the popular food/travel website www.realfoodtraveler.com. The website, which garners more than 25,000 views per month from people interested in artisan and regional food and authentic travel around the world, regularly reviews some of the best new cookbooks, as well as publishing recipes, reviews of restaurants and hotels, stories about food people, and features on traveling the world.
“It takes curiosity, the desire to try new recipes, and a knack for cooking to be a good cookbook reviewer,” says realfoodtraveler.com’s editor-in-chief, Bobbie Hasselbring. “Our new Cookbook Editor Lisa George has proven she’s got the right stuff. Her dedication and skill have earned her the new title of Realfoodtraveler.com Cookbook Editor.
George joins a staff of six other editors, including a Ski & Dive Editor, a Wine & Spirits Editor, a Beer Editor, and a Vegan/Vegetarian Editor. She started reviewing mainly gluten-free cookbooks for realfoodtraveler.com because many of her dude ranch guests were requesting gluten-free dishes. With her promotion as the website’s Cookbook Editor, she’ll be reviewing all types of cookbooks.
George regularly designs menus and cooks (along with her two adult children) for dozens and dozens of would-be cowboys and cowgirls as well as a large ranch staff every summer. She puts her degree in English to good use creating a seasonal Latigo Cookbook filled with guest favorite recipes of the year.
Of her new position as Cookbook Editor, Lisa says, “I’m happy to have the new title and a wider range of cookbooks to review. I may not be very fast at turning out reviews between May and October, but I’ll do my best.”
While the ranch hosts cross country ski guests during the snowy winter months, it’s during this quieter time that Chef Lisa works on new recipes and will be reviewing the bulk of her new cookbook review workload.
