Little Shop of Horrors, the musical at Middle Park High School this fall, is on its way to perfection.

The drama club is full of students from all grades and each student is excited to put on this Broadway show.

Little Shop of Horrors is a horror, comedy, and love story – all mixed into one.

The musical centers on a singing plant that is surrounded by a bunch of quirky characters. The once PG-13 rated show has been toned down to be PG rated for the high school production. The cast and new director all agreed that it is going to be a great and fun show.

The new director this year is Lori Oury. Oury has been around music for a long time, and was the music teacher at Fraser Valley Elementary School for 13 years before retiring a year ago. Oury continues to make music a part of her life. Last year she helped with the music in the musical, You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, but this is her first year doing the whole “shabang.”

Oury said that she would like to continue to direct, “We’ll see how this one goes.”

Along with Oury, Cheryl Simmons, Barbara Javors, and Colleen Regehr are helping with the production. Simmons is the pianist, Javors is the choreographer, and Regehr helps with music.

Everyone is busy getting ready for the productions on Friday, November 10 through Sunday, November 12. All three productions will be at 7 p.m. in the Middle Park High School Auditorium.

The drama club is also accepting donations from businesses if they want an ad in their program or want to be a sponsor. Alpine Lumber has already donated lumber for the sets and Ace Hardware has donated paint for the sets as well. Any donations are welcome, and businesses can contact Lori Oury through the school, at her email or phone number, with any questions or interest in donating.

Linneya Gardner is this year’s Sky-Hi News intern from Middle Park High School. She is a senior and is involved with basketball, soccer and yearbook. Look for her photographs and stories in each edition of the Sky-Hi News.
