Fran Cook retiring to Denver area
Ryan Summerlin July 11, 2012
Former Fraser Mayor Fran Cook is retiring and moving from Grand County to the Denver area.
Fran moved to Grand County in 1973 from Des Moines, Iowa. She was a rancher. Mrs. Cook was known in the valley for years as a kindergarten, 1st- and 2nd-grade teacher at Fraser Elementary School during her 31 years. She previously taught in Des Moines.
Mrs. Cook has been a member of Church of the Eternal Hills for 35 years. She has been a Deacon, Elder, member of Cursillo/Pilgrimage and Office Adminstrator for the past eight years. She is definitely “Fran of all trades” at the church and will be greatly missed.
Many valley residents most recently will know Fran as mayor of Fraser from 2005-2012. She began in local government on the Fraser Town Board of Directors beginning in 2003. Fran has been a member of several organization’s board of directors during her years in the valley.
Mrs. Cook is a member of the Fraser River Valley Lions Club. She has been active in Lions Club for a number of years where you might have seen her volunteering at many of their events.
With Fran’s move to the Denver area, she will be closer to her sons, Brian and Warren, and her 13 year old grandson, Noah. We will all certainly miss the valley’s long-time resident, Miss Frannie. You knew you were her friend when she called you “sweetie.” We hope she will remember that the distance up the hill to Grand County is the same as down to Denver and she will visit often.
