Granby Library to begin construction and repairs
October 5, 2012
GRANBY – The Grand County Library District will begin a construction repair project at the Granby Library during the week of Oct. 8. The library is pleased to be able to begin the construction while providing uninterrupted library services for the month of October.
For the last two winters the Granby Library has experienced water damage due to fire sprinkler pipes freezing and breaking. The construction repair is expected to eliminate the possibility of this recurring. The repair will move the fire sprinkler system from the current location in the roof cavity to the interior of the library.
The construction repair will be performed in two phases. Phase 1 will close the library main entrance and repair the area which includes the community meeting room and the entry vestibule. During Phase 1 the main entrance will be at the library’s West patio.
Phase 2 will reopen the main entrance to the library and repair the area of the entire main library, including the children’s library, the adult library, the circulation area, the fireplace area and the study rooms.
Phase 1 will prohibit use of the community meeting room, and the entry vestibule. Phase 2 will prohibit use of the main library, including the children’s library, the adult library, the circulation area, the fireplace area and the study rooms.
It is anticipated that Phase 1 will be completed by early November and Phase 2 will be completed by the end of December.
Every effort will be made to keep the public informed of progress on the project and any limitations of library services. Directional signage will be in place and staff will be available to guide the public. The City Market book return, and the south-side drive-up window and book return will be unavailable until further notice. A free-standing book return will be available on Jasper Avenue.
