Granby Ranch gears up for closing weekend and Spring Splash
Ryan Summerlin March 28, 2013
This weekend Ski Granby Ranch is celebrating its last weekend of operation for the 2012-13 ski season with night skiing, an Easter egg hunt, a visit from the Easter Bunny, live music, and the annual Spring Splash.
Skiers and boarders can register for the Spring Splash the day of the event and can put their skills to the test by attempting to ski or ride across a pond the resort has created for the event. Make sure you wear your arm floats and get ready to get wet with this competitive and challenging event that promises to be a load of laughs and a great end to the 2012-13 ski season.
The Easter Bunny is rumored to make an appearance Sunday morning, and in years past he has been seen on skis cruising down the slopes and hiding eggs for the 11 a.m. Easter egg hunt. Be sure you catch the white rabbit and snap a picture with him before he hops, or skis, away at 1 p.m.
Live music will start with DJ Scott Grey on Saturday from 12-4 p.m. at the base of the ski area and will continue with DJ Mike Turner on Sunday from 12-4 p.m. Both DJs will be bumping the bass at the base for skiers, boarders, and partiers of all kinds to get their groove on while they enjoy the last days of Ski Granby Ranch’s winter operations.
The resort had a great year, according to Lisa Craig, marketing director for Ski Granby Ranch, with record visitation numbers for the month of February and a much better snowpack than last season.
This time last year they had one run open for the closing celebration and this year they have nearly all terrain open for the last weekend.
