High Altitude Gardening Class Offered in Granby
Join the Granby Recreation Department and Grand County gardener Peg Steffen in a class to learn how to garden in our mountain environment. The class will cover soil and site preparation, plant materials that grow in high altitudes, perennial and rock gardening, native plants, and principles of Xeri-scape landscaping. The class will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, at the Granby Community Building. The cost is $25 and pre-registration is required. Granby Summer Youth Day Camp
The Granby Recreation Department is offering a summer youth day camp program. Day camp includes Monday Fundays, golf and tennis lessons, and Friday Flings. Upcoming Monday Fundays include Argo Mine Tour on June 11, and trip to Casa Bonita on June 18. Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at day camp includes activities like golf, tennis, and swim lessons as well as library programs. Every Friday the recreation department offers a field trip. Upcoming Friday Flings include: Friday, June 15, Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre and Rocky Mountain National Park; and Friday, June 22, Pirates Cove Water Park. Day camp is open to all children ages 5 years and older. Youngsters meet at the Granby Elementary School lunchroom at 8 a.m. and field trips return by 5:30 p.m. The cost is $29 per day. Basic Skateboard Clinics offered in Granby
Join the Granby Recreation Department and coach Ben Schemel to learn how to skate. The program covers everything from skate park etiquette to proper foot placement, riding, turns, skateboard parts, and more. Classes will be held from 10 a.m. – Noon on Tuesdays, June 19 – July 10 (Session I), and July 17 – August 7 (Session II) at the Granby Skate Park. The classes are open to all children ages 5 to 10 years. The cost is $50 (per four-week session) and pre-registration is required by calling Granby Rec. at 970-887-3961.
