The Grand Lake Brewing Company recently took home two prestigious awards for its craft brews from the Governor’s Beer Cup Competition.
The event, held on Sept. 15 in Boulder, judges entries from between 40 and 50 different breweries.
Grand Lake Brewing’s Wooly Booger Nut Brown Ale won the Governor’s Cup in the best amber and brown ale category, while the Shadow Mountain Oatmeal Stout won the Governor’s Cup in the black ale category. Winning the awards was “quite an honor,” according to the brewery.
Grand Lake Brewing has done well this summer, also winning two awards at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo for the Wooly Booger Nut Brown Ale and the Rocky Mountain Red Ale.
In order to spread the wealth and good cheer, the Grand Lake Brewery is donating 10 percent of all sale proceeds of the award-winning Wooly Booger Nut Brown Ale and Shadow Mountain Oatmeal Stout to the Colorado Fire Relief Fund.
“The Grand Lake Brewing Company is a proud supporter of firefighters and the work that goes into keeping the State of Colorado safe,” said brewery representatives in a statement.
Proceeds from these sales to firefighters will continue throughout 2012 and 2013.
