Grand part of regional ‘flash flood watch’

10:30 a.m., Sept. 14 —The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch that includes Grand County.
The watch is from noon today (Saturday, Sept. 14) to Sunday afternoon (Sept. 15), and according to the Weather Service, includes north and northeast Grand County above 9,000 feet and south and southeast Grand County. Rocky Mountain National Park and Berthoud Pass are listed in the watch information.
The Weather Service states additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches with up to 3 inches will be possible in the mountains through Sunday afternoon.
“Best chance of heavier rainfall appears to be from late tonight through Sunday afternoon,” the watch states.
The Service warns that in some locations of the regional watch, the rainfall could produce up to an inch of rain in less than 45 minutes, which could lead to flash flooding.
