Baby born at Middle Park Medical Center, Granby
A healthy baby girl was born at Middle Park Medical Center in Granby at 3:49 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, despite the hospital usually not performing births. Dr. Greg Gutierrez delivered the child with the help of Audrey Jennings, a Grand County Emergency Medical Services critical care paramedic and registered nurse. Efforts to find out the name of the baby and the name of her parents were unsuccessful by press time. “It was a bright day for a new life in Grand County,” said Ray Jennings, EMS Chief.
Moose falls through window
A moose fell into a window well of a man’s home in the Tabernash area on Monday morning, Feb. 10. Mike Gruba reports he came home to find blood around his home as well as some moose hair and followed the clues to his window well. The moose had apparently fallen into the window and thrashed about trying to escape and destroyed his window in the process. “It looked like a war zone,” Gruba said. “The window was smashed to bits.” He located the moose in his backyard eating aspen trees and contacted a Colorado Parks and Wildlife official, who informed him to keep an eye on the moose until it left his property. When Gruba awoke the next morning, the moose was gone. He followed the tracks for a little while to make sure the moose had moved on.
